Letter from an absolute beginner

Hi Friends,

We are all aware of the terrible impact of the Corona virus , and it has impacted on everyone’s lives in some way.

So I was delighted to receive this email from a customer who had really taken a positive outlook and decided to give knitting a try.

This is her email and I wanted to share :

The shut down prompted me to try some new things - one of which was knitting!

I had no idea where or how to start, so finding your website was great! I didn't really want to knit a scarf or beanie, so the toddler poncho was perfect!

I really enjoyed knitting it, your videos were clear and easy to follow and after only one false start (I kept accidentally adding extra stitches - oops!) I managed to create a pretty passable poncho for my little girl.

I've already ordered my next kit, taking advantage of the 2 for 1 offer on hand warmers.

Thanks for making getting started on knitting so easy and fun .

It’s a shame I’ve had to cover up this sweet face, but for privacy reasons, I understand.

My goal with What Jane Knits has been to create projects that are easy to complete, practical to use and also attractive with quality yarns.

So thank you, I feel I have achieved this and I’ve received a lot of lovely feedback from you all.

I shall share some more here another time.

The poncho kit is still available, however no cream left sorry, I do have beige and grey.

Welcome new knitters and old friends

Hello,

Just thought I’d write a quick note to say a big welcome to my new Knitting friends.

I’m so glad you’ve decided to give knitting a try during this time of isolation.

Knitting is such a great skill.

Firstly it allows you to use your time constructively - you can create something lovely!

Secondly you can take your mind off things that might be worrying you and focus on learning those knitting stitches.

I’m guessing you’ve all had a look at the Video Tutorials. If not - go here!

I also wanted to let you know that due to popularity, I’m currently out of stock of the Chunky Knit Beanie and Cowl kits. If you did have one of those kits and would like some extra wool for a second (or third) project, just email me and I’ll see what I can do. I have very, limited yarn stock available.

However I am working at getting these kits back in stock, so fingers crossed!

Think Big, buy Small!

If you are looking to purchase gifts or even some knitting projects for yourself, you might like to consider the benefit of buying from a small business.

The small businesses I support with my Aussie Yarn kits are independent farms. These farms are operated by the owners, it’s the livelihood for their families. They lovingly tend to their flocks of sheep and alpacas and focus on creating the best environment for their livestock.

The farms themselves are operated to maintain the sustainability of the land.

Sadly many are suffering from the drought in Australia and also bushfires pose a very serious concern for some as well. So now, more than ever, they rely on our support.

As well as the farms, the yarns they produce are all processed by local or small independent scouring businesses. They are also producing the yarns using mills and dyers within Australia.

By continuing to support these yarn suppliers you are also supporting the supply chain of independent businesses.

The money earned from these sales is invested in their Australian businesses and used in the local economy.

You can help support these small businesses by purchasing from my Aussie Yarns range.

So it’s a pretty big deal when you buy small.

Alpacas from Mirrormere - near Canberra, the land is badly affected by the drought and now the Alpacas are mostly hand fed.
